Book’s name is forever etched in the annals of Manchester City’s history

Manchester City legend Tony Book has passed away at the age of 90, the club announced on Tuesday.
Book, who captained City during their golden era in the late 1960s and early 1970s, led the team to several major triumphs, including the English top-flight title and the European Cup Winners’ Cup. As a manager, he further cemented his legacy by guiding the club to League Cup glory in 1976.
It is with huge sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of former Manchester City captain and manager Tony Book, aged 90.

In recognition of his contributions, Book was named honorary president of Manchester City and life president of the official supporters’ club.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak paid a heartfelt tribute, stating,
For nearly sixty years, Tony helped to shape Manchester City. Not just in what he contributed as a player, captain, and manager, but in the way he conducted himself.
His hopes and ambitions for his club were matched only by his incredible humility regarding his own significant achievements.
Al Mubarak added:
Tony’s devotion to his club meant he was still fulfilling club duties earlier this season. I will miss seeing him at our games enormously.
Book’s contributions to Manchester City have left an indelible mark on the club’s history, with his leadership and character celebrated by fans and officials alike.
