Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted at a unique celebration for Liverpool players if Manchester City are stripped of their Premier League titles due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches.

Manchester City is facing 115 charges of alleged FFP violations, a case that could lead to significant consequences such as relegation, points deductions, or even the forfeiture of their previous titles.

Under Klopp’s leadership, Liverpool were narrowly edged out by City in the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons, finishing as runners-up.

Klopp’s Reaction

Klopp, now serving as Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, has already envisioned a celebration should City lose their titles. Speaking to reporters, he joked:

If it would happen, I told all the people: ‘Just book a flight to Mallorca. I will buy the beer!’ We’d have our own parade in my garden. Oh God… what a headline!

Despite the humor, Klopp admitted he hasn’t closely followed the legal proceedings.

“We will see. I didn’t follow (the narrative of the case) at all. It could be two months (away from a finding)? Wow,” he added.

City’s Struggles

This season has been particularly challenging for Pep Guardiola’s side. Manchester City has already lost six Premier League games and trails leaders Liverpool by 12 points, with the Reds having a game in hand.

The pressure mounts as City awaits a verdict on their FFP charges, which could reshape the league’s history if sanctions are enforced.

Looking Ahead

Liverpool, chasing their first Premier League title since 2020, remain focused on maintaining their lead at the top of the table.

They return to action this Saturday against Brentford. Meanwhile, Manchester City will seek to recover their form when they face Ipswich.
