Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush in a deal worth around €80 million (£67 million).
The Egyptian international has been in outstanding form this season, contributing directly to 24 Bundesliga goals (15 goals, 9 assists), making him one of the league’s top performers behind Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
Marmoush, who joined Frankfurt on a free transfer from Wolfsburg just 18 months ago, has been a key figure for the German club.
His performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, but City have now moved decisively to secure his services.
Pep Guardiola’s side has struggled offensively this season, scoring fewer goals than mid-table Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur.
With City currently sitting sixth in the Premier League, Guardiola publicly called for reinforcements in January, and the club has responded.
According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, City have reached an “agreement in principle” with Frankfurt after extended negotiations.
The Athletic had previously reported that City had a bid rejected, but discussions remained ongoing, leading to this latest breakthrough.
Marmoush is not expected to feature in Frankfurt’s upcoming match against Borussia Dortmund due to the advanced stage of negotiations.
Meanwhile, City are also finalizing deals for young center-backs Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov, further strengthening their squad this month.
With Marmoush’s arrival imminent, Guardiola will be hoping the 25-year-old forward can provide the attacking spark City have been missing this season.
