Manchester City are set to complete the signing of Brazilian defensive prospect Vitor Reis, with the 19-year-old centre-back expected to join for £29.5 million.
The Premier League champions moved quickly to secure the highly-rated talent ahead of Brighton and Palmeiras.
What Shirt Number Could Reis Wear at City?
As Reis prepares for his medical and official unveiling, attention turns to his potential squad number. Several options are available, including:
- 44 – his current number at Palmeiras
- 12, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29, 30
- 34 to 46 consecutively
However, the number 23 remains retired in honor of Marc-Vivien Foé.
Immediate First-Team Role Expected
Unlike many young signings, Reis is not expected to go out on loan.
Instead, Pep Guardiola sees him as a player ready for immediate first-team involvement, particularly amid City’s defensive challenges this season.
