Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has once again emphasized the importance of winning another Premier League title before key players from the squad move on.
With his future at Anfield still uncertain due to an unresolved contract situation, this season could be his last in a Liverpool shirt.
Despite the speculation, Salah has remained as influential as ever, delivering an incredible 22 goals and 17 assists so far this season.
His performances have played a major role in Liverpool’s current position at the top of the Premier League table.
In a recent interview for the LFC match program, Salah stressed the need for Liverpool to secure another league title, not just for the team but for their legacy.
I just always try to give my best, whether I win trophies or not, but my motivation this year has really been to win a trophy, especially the Premier League
A Legacy Worth Cementing
Liverpool’s 2019/20 Premier League triumph ended a 30-year wait, but Salah believes they need another title to truly solidify their dominance.
So much of the team that won the league last time has left. There’s still me, Virgil, Trent, Ali, Joe, and Robbo—so maybe five or six players from that squad remain. I think it’s necessary to win another trophy before we all go.
Winning the Premier League again would not only be a testament to their sustained excellence but also a chance to properly celebrate a title win with fans—something they missed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We waited 30 years for that title, and when we won it, the pandemic meant we couldn’t celebrate properly. Hopefully, we can do it this year.
Fresh Motivation Under Arne Slot
Salah also acknowledged the impact of new manager Arne Slot, who has introduced fresh ideas and an added sense of urgency within the squad.
We were with Jurgen for seven years, and now we have a new manager with different ideas. Maybe that’s given us extra motivation to push for the title. It’s not that we didn’t want it before, but change can sometimes help a team.
As the season progresses, Salah and his teammates remain determined to bring another Premier League trophy to Anfield, ensuring their legacy as one of Liverpool’s greatest squads.
A potential departure
Salah’s words definitely hint at a potential departure.
His statement, “It’s necessary to win another trophy before we all go,” suggests that he sees an end approaching—not just for himself but for other key players from the title-winning squad.
While he doesn’t explicitly confirm that he’s leaving, the repeated references to time running out and his contract situation being unresolved make it clear that his future at Liverpool is uncertain.
The way he speaks about “we all go” rather than just himself also implies a broader transition happening within the squad.
It feels like a subtle farewell message—one where he’s acknowledging the legacy of this Liverpool era and wanting to leave on a high note with another league title.
