As Barcelona plans for the future, Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku has emerged as a potential target for the Catalan giants. With questions surrounding the longevity of Robert Lewandowski, Nkunku’s availability could be the answer to Barcelona’s evolving offensive needs.

Nkunku has had a mixed season under Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca. While his performances in the UEFA Conference League—scoring five goals in five appearances—have been impressive, he has found himself sidelined in the Premier League.

Nicolas Jackson’s consistent selection has left the French forward frustrated with his limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

In a recent development, Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, reportedly reached out to Barcelona to propose a deal. According to SPORT, Zahavi, who shares a strong relationship with the club, suggested that Nkunku is available at a reduced fee and is even willing to accept a pay cut to facilitate the move.

Barcelona is actively considering their options. While Robert Lewandowski has scored an impressive 16 goals in 18 La Liga games this season, the Polish striker’s form has dipped, managing just two goals in his last seven matches. At 36, his age is becoming a factor, with Barcelona looking for a long-term solution.

In November, Maresca addressed transfer speculations, saying:

“I spoke to Christo [Nkunku] days ago. He didn’t say he wasn’t happy. He would like to play more games, for sure. I completely want Christo to stay, there is no idea to allow him to go in January.”

Despite this, the Chelsea manager admitted that some fringe players could push for exits in the January window. Nkunku’s dissatisfaction could make him one of those seeking a change.

Barcelona faces the challenge of navigating financial constraints to bolster their squad, but Nkunku’s reduced valuation and willingness to adapt financially could make him a viable option.

Will Barcelona secure Nkunku’s signature in January, or will Chelsea find a way to keep him at Stamford Bridge? The coming weeks will reveal the next chapter in this intriguing transfer saga.
