Brighton’s Premier League ambitions have been dealt a significant setback with the injury of star forward Joao Pedro.
The Brazilian will miss Saturday’s crucial clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, potentially disrupting Brighton’s momentum.
Pedro’s injury came courtesy of a harsh tackle from Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White during their 2-2 draw last weekend.
The severity of the injury remains uncertain, with manager Fabian Hurzeler admitting in his pres conference ahead of Chelsea match:
It was a hard tackle and Joao Pedro had some problems after the game.
He still has some problems. We have to go week to week with him, but I don’t think he will be an option for the weekend. I am not sure how long he will be out not sure how long he will be out.
The 22-year-old’s absence is a substantial loss for Brighton, given his impressive start to the season.
Pedro scored two goals in three Premier League starts and was the club’s top scorer last season with 20 goals. His pace, skill, and finishing ability have been crucial to Brighton’s attacking prowess.
Brighton faces an uphill battle against Chelsea, who are determined to maintain their strong start to the season. The Blues have been revitalized under their new manager and will look to exploit Brighton’s weakened attack.
Brighton’s depth will be tested, with potential replacements including Danny Welbeck and Julio Enciso. However, Pedro’s unique abilities and goal-scoring record make him difficult to replace.
The match against Chelsea is crucial for Brighton’s top-six ambitions. A win would propel them up the table, while a loss could see them drop down the rankings.
Brighton will need to rally behind their team and find a way to overcome the absence of their star forward.
