Chelsea are reportedly making a last-minute push to sign Manchester City youngster Nico O’Reilly as they look to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes.
With the Blues keen on adding reinforcements, they had initially targeted Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo.
However, with United unwilling to lower their £70m asking price, Chelsea have shifted their focus elsewhere.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have now approached City regarding O’Reilly but face a challenge, as City are reluctant to lose control over the 19-year-old’s future.
Meanwhile, Saint-Etienne midfielder Mathis Amougou also remains on Chelsea’s radar.
Romano confirmed the developments on X, stating:
Chelsea keep working on a new midfielder with an enquiry made to Man City for 2005-born midfielder Nico O’Reilly. Man City don’t want to lose future control on the player — not an easy deal. Enquiry also made for Mathis Amougou, still on the list.
With the transfer deadline looming, Chelsea will have to move quickly if they hope to secure any new signings.
