Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, has expressed his desire to keep star forward Christopher Nkunku at the club beyond the upcoming January transfer window.
Nkunku, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for €60 million, has shown flashes of brilliance in cup competitions but limited league action due to injuries, remains a key figure in Chelsea’s plans.
This situation has attracted attention from clubs such as Manchester United, who are reportedly monitoring Nkunku’s availability. Additionally, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is interested in bringing Nkunku back to the Parc des Princes and has proposed a swap deal involving forward Randal Kolo Muani.
Furthermore, Barcelona has been offered the opportunity to sign Nkunku by his agent, though financial constraints may hinder a potential move.
Speaking to the press ahead of the derby match with Fulham, Maresca emphasized the importance of retaining such talent, even as some players consider their futures due to limited game time.
Maresca also hinted that while the January transfer window may see some players leave, the club’s priority is to maintain squad balance rather than pursue numerous signings.
Players like Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell have reportedly been linked with potential exits after struggling for regular starts.
Currently sitting second in the Premier League standings, Chelsea remains focused on sustaining their title challenge.
Despite the strong competition from Liverpool and a potential resurgence from Manchester City, Maresca remains cautiously optimistic about their chances this season.
