Daily Post revealed that former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has criticized the club’s failure to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, calling him the “big signing” they missed out on.
Chelsea were heavily linked to Osimhen throughout the summer transfer window but ultimately failed to secure his signature. The 25-year-old instead joined Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal.
Johnson expressed his disappointment, stating, “The obvious one would be Victor Osimhen. He was the big name they wanted and didn’t get.” He emphasized that Chelsea’s young squad needed an established player like Osimhen.
Johnson’s comments come as Chelsea continues to rebuild their squad under new management.
The club spent heavily on young talent during the transfer window, but Johnson believes Osimhen’s experience and goal-scoring ability would have made a significant impact.
Despite missing out on Osimhen this summer, sources indicate that Chelsea has not yet given up on signing the Nigerian striker, leaving the door open for a potential future transfer.
