Chelsea’s disciplinary issues have continued to escalate as the club faces another fine from the FA for accumulating six yellow cards during their recent 2-1 win over Newcastle United.
This incident marks the third time this season Chelsea has been fined for the same offense, highlighting a pattern of repeated violations.
In earlier matches this season, Chelsea faced substantial penalties after receiving eight yellow cards (£25,000) in a 1-0 win against Bournemouth, and six yellow cards (£50,000) in a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.
Following the match against Newscastle, the FA has penalized Chelsea with a fine of £75,000 for picking up six yellow cards. In the match, Chelsea took the lead with a goal by Nicolas Jackson, but Newcastle’s Alexander Isak equalized soon after.
Cole Palmer eventually secured the win for Chelsea in the second half.
However, the intense gameplay led to yellow cards for several key players, including Robert Sanchez, Christopher Nkunku, and Romeo Lavia.
These incidents have pushed the club’s total fines significantly higher, making them the first team in the Premier League to have collected six or more yellow cards in three separate games this season.
These repeat offenses underscore Chelsea’s ongoing struggle with disciplinary control, as the high number of bookings not only affects the club financially but could also risk player suspensions if caution levels remain high.
The FA’s penalties serve as a clear reminder to Chelsea that a change in on-field conduct may be needed to avoid further repercussions.
