Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle to sign highly rated Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda for a fee of approximately £40 million.

The 17-year-old Portuguese prospect is expected to commit to a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with an option to extend for an additional season.

However, as part of the agreement, Quenda will remain at Sporting until 2026 before officially joining the Premier League side.

Despite Chelsea already boasting a wealth of attacking options on both wings, the club sees Quenda as a versatile player capable of operating on either flank.

His dribbling ability and confidence in one-on-one situations make him a promising addition to their squad.

Since making his breakthrough under Ruben Amorim, the Portugal Under-21 international has impressed with two goals and eight assists in 43 senior appearances for Sporting.

His performances have attracted interest from multiple European clubs, including Manchester United, where Amorim, his former manager, is currently in charge.

Quenda’s arrival aligns with Chelsea’s strategy of securing young talent for the future, following similar moves for emerging stars in recent transfer windows.
