Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell expressed his delight after making his long-awaited return to Stamford Bridge in the Blues’ 5-0 thrashing of Barrow in the Carabao Cup.
Chilwell, who replaced Malo Gusto at halftime, played his first minutes of the season, capping an injury-plagued period.
“Missed nights at the Bridge in front of you guys,” Chilwell posted on Instagram.
Chelsea dominated the match, with Christopher Nkunku netting a hat-trick and Pedro Neto scoring his first goal for the club.
The victory marked a convincing start to Chelsea’s Carabao Cup campaign and provided a boost for manager Enzo Maresca.
This was Chilwell’s first appearance for the club since being frozen out by new manager Enzo Maresca
He has indeed missed playing at Stamford Bridge, and his return was a special moment for him.
Thus, he took to social media to thank fans for their support and let them know how much he misses them.
The left-back has struggled with injuries since joining Chelsea in 2020, missing 104 games for club and country across all competitions.
Chilwell’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain, but for now, he’s focused on helping the team and showing appreciation for the fans’ support.
Hopefully, he will get more minutes before a final decision will be made.
