Cole Palmer Among Major Doubts
Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s standout performer this season, suffered a knock during the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.
Maresca revealed that the midfielder has missed training and remains a doubt for the Wolves game at Stamford Bridge.
“First half [against Bournemouth], they kicked him. He didn’t train today. We don’t know if he’s going to train tomorrow or in two days,” Maresca stated.
Midfield and Defensive Woes for Chelsea
Alongside Palmer, midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia missed training due to muscle fatigue.
Lavia, who only recently returned from a hamstring injury, could now be sidelined again.
Defensively, Levi Colwill is also a concern after picking up a knock in the same Bournemouth match. If he is unavailable, Chelsea’s defensive depth will be severely tested.
Chelsea’s Growing Injury List
The Blues could be missing up to eight first-team players for the Wolves game. The current injury list includes:
- Cole Palmer (knock) – Doubtful
- Levi Colwill (knock) – Doubtful
- Enzo Fernandez (muscle fatigue) – Doubtful
- Romeo Lavia (muscle fatigue) – Doubtful
- Mykhailo Mudryk (injury) – Out
- Wesley Fofana (hamstring) – Out
- Benoit Badiashile (hamstring) – Out
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (injury) – Out
Defensive Reinforcements Recalled
With defensive options limited, Chelsea has recalled Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace and Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors.
If Colwill is ruled out, Tosin Adarabioyo is expected to start in central defense, while Josh Acheampong could retain his place after impressing in recent matches.
Must-Win Match for Chelsea’s Top-Four Hopes
Chelsea has failed to win any of their last five Premier League games, dropping out of the top four race.
A win against Wolves is crucial to revive their Champions League qualification hopes and regain momentum.
With so many key players missing, Maresca faces a tactical dilemma. Can Chelsea grind out a result despite their growing injury problems?
