Former Chelsea star William Gallas has suggested that midfielder Cole Palmer could consider a move to Barcelona if Chelsea fails to bring home silverware this season.

Gallas believes that Palmer, who has been pivotal for the Blues may seek a team with more consistent title prospects if Chelsea doesn’t step up under manager Enzo Maresca.

Gallas explained that Palmer, one of England’s rising talents, would likely feel frustration watching his fellow national team members celebrate trophy wins while Chelsea struggles to contend.

“It will be tough to see his friends winning trophies if he isn’t at Chelsea despite the way he is playing.”

“Barcelona would be a great move for him, but they have great young players already like Lamine Yamal and might also be signing Nico Williams.,” Gallas noted.

Despite the speculation, Palmer’s contract with Chelsea extends until 2033, and there has been no indication from the club or the player that a move is imminent.

For now, Palmer remains committed to the Blues, who are set to face Liverpool next weekend. This match could set the tone for the rest of the season and may play a role in influencing Palmer’s decisions about his long-term future.

While the possibility of Palmer joining Barcelona is just a suggestion at this point, Chelsea fans and club officials alike will be watching closely as the season unfolds.

The pressure is on Chelsea not only to secure a top-four finish but also to convince key players like Palmer that the club’s ambitions match their own.
