Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has promised to take his teammates out for a meal after his reaction to being substituted against Ipswich drew attention.

The Argentine forward was taken off in the 44th minute after Patrick Dorgu received a straight red card, forcing United to make an early tactical change.

Instead of joining his teammates on the bench, Garnacho walked straight down the tunnel, sparking speculation about his frustration.

However, United head coach Ruben Amorim clarified the situation, explaining that Garnacho had simply gone to the dressing room to change his wet clothes and later watched the rest of the game from a different area.

“It’s Not an Issue” – Amorim Explains Garnacho’s Actions

“It was funny because the next day, he came to my office,” Amorim said. “I did some investigations, and he went to the dressing room, changed because he was wet, and then watched the game elsewhere. He was there at the end and then went home, so there’s no issue.”

Despite this, Amorim emphasized that “perception is important at a big club like Manchester United.”

As a lighthearted lesson, Garnacho agreed to take his teammates out for dinner.

Amorim also provided an injury update, stating that Garnacho has a minor knock but is expected to be fit for United’s FA Cup fifth-round match against Fulham on Sunday.

Amorim Responds to Roy Keane’s Criticism of Bruno Fernandes

Amorim also addressed Roy Keane’s criticism of Bruno Fernandes, who has faced scrutiny over his leadership style.

“I have a different opinion,” Amorim said. “Yes, sometimes he gestures out of frustration, but that’s because he wants to win. Roy Keane had high standards, and it’s normal to have different views. But as the coach, I think my opinion is more important.”

Maguire Backs Fernandes as Captain

Former United captain Harry Maguire also defended Fernandes, highlighting their strong relationship.

“When I was captain, he supported me a lot, and now I trust him as captain,” Maguire told BBC Sport. “We both see ourselves as leaders. There are a lot of experienced players in the dressing room like Casemiro, Tom Heaton, and Jonny Evans, and in tough times, we have to step up.”

Manchester United will take on Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday at 16:30 GMT.
