Pep Guardiola has expressed unwavering confidence that Manchester City will recover from their current struggles, despite a dismal run of form.
With just one win in their last 13 matches, City’s season has taken a sharp downturn, leaving them 14 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.
In a recent statement, Guardiola acknowledged the challenges his team has faced, including a series of injuries, but remains optimistic about their ability to turn things around:
The greatest test comes when things are going badly. We will come back, and that’s already happened. But this makes me reflect on how good the past was.
He also highlighted the impact of injuries, explaining,
We have had seven or eight key players injured, and it’s been tough with games coming every three days. But I see the spirit of the team, and the focus in training, and that gives me confidence.
Manchester City will be looking to rediscover their form as they take on Leicester on Sunday, hoping for a much-needed victory.
Guardiola’s confidence is shared by defender Manuel Akanji, who stressed the importance of continuing to work hard:
We need to keep on working. We’ve had lots of injuries, and it’s not easy, but we will find a way out of this. Luck will come again on our side.
As the team heads to Leicester, currently battling relegation, City’s recent struggles have not dampened expectations. The club remains determined to end their turbulent period and regain their winning form.
