Chelsea’s Cole Palmer made headlines with a stunning four-goal performance in a 4-2 victory over Brighton, becoming the first Premier League player to score four goals by halftime.

After the match, Palmer reflected, “I should have had five or six!”

He expressed disappointment at missing an early chance but remained confident in his team’s attacking strategy, stating, “With the way they played and their high line, I felt we’d get more chances.”

Palmer’s goals came in a flurry, netting four times in just 20 minutes, including a spectacular free-kick that left BBC pundit Rachel Brown-Finnis stunned.

His impressive tally now stands at six goals and four assists in six Premier League matches this season, placing him as Chelsea’s top scorer and second in the league.

Not only did Palmer find the net, but he also showcased his playmaking ability by assisting Nicolas Jackson on two occasions that could have resulted in additional goals.

He is now the first Chelsea player to score at least 20 Premier League goals in a single calendar year since Diego Costa in 2016.

Reflecting on his performance, Palmer added, “Three points is what we needed, and that is what we got.”

Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, praised the team’s game plan, which focused on exploiting Brighton’s high defensive line with quick, first-time passes.

As Chelsea gears up for their next match against Nottingham Forest, Palmer’s remarkable performance signals a promising season ahead.

Having already scored 25 goals across all competitions last season, the 22-year-old is poised to lead Chelsea’s charge in their quest for success.
