Italian midfielder Jorginho has reportedly agreed to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to his two-year spell at the club.

Since his £12 million move from Chelsea in 2023, Jorginho has made 72 appearances for the Gunners.

While a key squad member last season—featuring in 36 games—he has found playing time more limited this campaign, starting just six Premier League matches.

With Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, and Mikel Merino ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, Arsenal has opted to let his contract run down rather than offer an extension.

Flamengo Move on the Horizon

Although Arsenal rejected a January transfer approach from Brazilian club Flamengo, reports from Italy suggest Jorginho has now signed a pre-contract agreement with the club.

This would see him make a long-anticipated move to Brazil in the summer, marking the end of his eight-year stint in the Premier League.

Jorginho previously hinted at an interest in playing in Brazil, describing it as an “incredible experience” he would consider in the future.

As Jorginho prepares for his departure, Arsenal is already planning for the future.

Reports indicate that the club is set to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad as part of Mikel Arteta’s midfield rebuild.

What’s Next?

For now, Jorginho remains focused on Arsenal’s campaign, with the Gunners still in contention for the Premier League title.

Whether he plays a significant role in the final months of the season remains to be seen, but his move to Brazil appears all but certain.
