Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has hailed manager Enzo Maresca as being “light years ahead” in his football thinking, crediting him for changing his understanding of the game.

The 22-year-old, who has made 25 appearances this season, believes Maresca’s approach is unique.

He is pushing me to understand football in a different way. I’m very blessed to play under him and learn as much as possible,” Colwill said.

Academy Success and Chelsea’s Future Stars

Having risen through Chelsea’s ranks, Colwill highlighted the club’s impressive academy system, calling it a breeding ground for “animals” on the pitch.

He praised emerging talents like Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong, predicting bright futures for them.

A Journey of Growth

Colwill reflected on his career so far, from his formative loan spell at Huddersfield to his time at Brighton under Roberto De Zerbi.

He admitted initial struggles with the Italian coach but now sees him as a mentor.

Living the England Dream

Now an England international with four senior caps, Colwill cherishes the opportunity to represent his country.

Every time you play for them, something grows in you that makes you want to play again,” he said, hoping for future success with the national team.

Giving Back with Sholing FC

Beyond his Chelsea career, Colwill is an associate director at Sholing FC, a non-league side in Southampton, where he hopes to provide opportunities for young players overlooked by academies.

With Chelsea pushing for a top-four finish, Colwill’s development under Maresca will be crucial in their pursuit of Champions League football next season.
