Liverpool’s dominance in the Premier League has been nothing short of extraordinary this season.
Under new manager Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have shown remarkable consistency and attacking flair, leaving their rivals scrambling to keep up.
Despite Arsenal’s best efforts, Liverpool continued their unbeaten streak with a 4-1 victory over Ipswich, maintaining a six-point lead at the top of the table.
Key players like Cody Gakpo, who scored twice, along with Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai, made sure of the comfortable win.
The victory also extended their unbeaten run to 18 matches, making them the team to beat in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s Rising Threat
Many expected Liverpool to go through a rough patch this season, but they have defied those predictions. The Reds have improved in almost every area, and the growth in their key players has been particularly noticeable.
Salah has been in sensational form, netting his 19th goal of the season, the most in the Premier League so far.
However, the improvements don’t stop with Salah. Gakpo’s recent form has been impressive, scoring five goals in his last six matches.
Szoboszlai, who started the season slowly, is now taking more shots and creating more scoring opportunities. Against Ipswich, he had four shots on target and scored once, showing his growing influence in the team.
Liverpool’s Power Play: Work Rate and Attacking Threat
Liverpool has always been an attacking team, but under Slot, they have found a new level of work-rate and attacking intent.
Their away match against Brentford saw them register 37 shots, setting a Premier League record for the most shots by an away team.
“That is the development the team is in,” Slot said. “We have our players now in even more promising positions than last season.”
Slot also commented on Szoboszlai’s growth, adding:
At the beginning of the season he [Szoboszlai] would have played that ball [for his goal] to Mohamed Salah but this time he decided to go for goal himself. He is a bit underestimated, not by me, but he doesn’t get the credit because his work-rate is unbelievable. That is so important for the team.
A Strong Home Record: Key to the Title Push
A team’s home form is always crucial in a title challenge, and Liverpool’s Anfield performances have been top-notch.
With 26 points and eight wins at home this season, they lead the Premier League in both categories.
Against Ipswich, Liverpool showed no signs of complacency, despite facing a team struggling at the bottom. They opened the scoring early and added three more goals without breaking a sweat. “
“f you are going to be passive against a team like Liverpool, you are going to be punished,” said former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha. “Credit to Liverpool, they find ways to win games. For them, they just keep winning.”
Can Liverpool Be Caught?
While Liverpool is in control, a few slip-ups could quickly shrink their six-point lead. However, their current form and mentality suggest they won’t be easily shaken.
With a game in hand, Liverpool could extend their advantage even further.
History shows that anything can happen, as demonstrated by Manchester United’s comeback from 12 points behind in 1996 to win the title.
But Liverpool isn’t looking too far ahead—they’re focused on taking each game as it comes.
“We are mainly focused on ourselves,” Slot added. “We had to win this game because it’s expected from Liverpool that we win this game. It’s so pleasing to see that we had a comfortable win.”
With the Reds looking stronger than ever, it seems like the Premier League title is theirs to lose. But can anyone stop them? Only time will tell.
