Manchester City have completed the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for €70 million (£59 million), with potential add-ons increasing the fee by £4 million.
The 25-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029.
Marmoush has been in sensational form this season, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches, making him the league’s second-highest scorer behind Harry Kane.
His versatility allows him to play as a striker, attacking midfielder, or winger, providing manager Pep Guardiola with more attacking options.

The Egyptian international has already impressed at club and international level, having scored six goals in 35 appearances for Egypt since making his debut in 2021.

Marmoush describes himself as a fast, technical player with great spatial awareness who always looks to exploit openings in the opposition’s defense.
On the pitch, I am fast, good on the ball, I try to see where the spaces are and exploit them. I always want to win – that’s my mentality.
City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain praised Marmoush’s attributes, calling his pace and awareness “outstanding” and highlighting his versatility as a major asset for the team.
Guardiola’s Squad Reinforcement in January
Marmoush’s signing comes amid Guardiola’s push to refresh the squad. The Egyptian forward will replace Julian Alvarez, who recently moved to Atletico Madrid.
His arrival will help reduce the goalscoring burden on Erling Haaland, who has lacked a consistent partner in attack this season.
City have also strengthened their defense with the signings of:

- Abdukodir Khusanov (Uzbekistan defender from Lens, £34 million)
Marmoush’s Debut and Future Expectations
Marmoush is expected to be available for Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Chelsea this weekend.
However, he will not be eligible for City’s crucial Champions League match against Club Brugge, where the team must win to secure a play-off berth.
