Manchester City’s new signing, Omar Marmoush, announced himself in style with a first-half hat-trick, guiding Pep Guardiola’s side to a dominant 4-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.
After a slow start to life at City, the £63m January signing from Eintracht Frankfurt found his rhythm, scoring three goals in just 14 minutes to put the game beyond Newcastle’s reach before halftime.
Despite netting 15 times in 17 Bundesliga games earlier this season, Marmoush had failed to score in his first four City appearances.
However, against Newcastle, he showcased his clinical finishing, pace, and movement, proving why Guardiola brought him in.

Guardiola’s Tactical Masterclass
Guardiola made six changes to freshen up his squad after their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, including handing a Premier League debut to Nico Gonzalez.
The changes paid off, as City dominated possession (62%) and created seven shots on target compared to Newcastle’s one.
Defensively, Abdukodir Khusanov and John Stones kept Alexander Isak quiet, ensuring Newcastle struggled to create meaningful chances.
What This Means for Man City & Newcastle
City’s win propels them into the top four, overtaking Chelsea, while Newcastle drop to seventh after their 16th consecutive away defeat at the Etihad.
- Next for Man City: A crucial Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
- Next for Newcastle: A home game against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
